SID also known as Shido (シド),
was formed in the late spring of 2003 by Mao and Aki. Yuuya and Shinji
played as support members before joining as official band
members. Their first performance was in the summer of '03. Since that
time they have put forth a wide range of music, including a very
jazz-influenced style of Japanese rock. This, along with Mao's unique
vocals, have created something only defined as SID.
Originally working
under Hideki Inoue, they traveled to America in May 2004 to play their
first American live at Anime Central 2004, which included an exclusive
acoustic set for the fans. Upon returning to Japan they signed under
the label Danger Crue, which was soon followed by the release of their
first album "Renai" in the winter of 2004. It became an instant hit,
drawing a large group of new fans to their undefinable sound and
style. Over the years SID has continued to steadily release music, proving that they are a rising new sound on the scene.
Following the success
of their performance at Nihon Budokan to the turnout of thousands of
fans and the release of their third album entitled "play" - SID's
fanbase has contibnued to increase at an amazing pace. Their single
released in the fall of 2007 reached #4 on the Oricon charts, much
contributed to the bands continuing energy and talent.
SID has continued
to wow fans and the Japanese music scene alike over the few years they
have been together. While establishing a new and distinct genre, they
hope for a great future with their music and wish for the continued
support of their fans.
Decadence,
sensual pleasure, fantasy, and reality. Denying to pay an homage to
the past, they start a new journey. Enjoy their world by letting go of
yourself from all self-imposed restraints. This is the fate. There is
no choice but to except it. You have to experience it. - from SID's "Paint Pops" booklet
