About AKIRA:

Popular with the teen to 20s age groups in Japan, AKIRA has been the main boys style model for one of Japan’s biggest young fashion style magazines. Even though she is a woman, she has been able to transform herself into a male fashion style icon.

She is known to be called “AKIRA-sama” by her fans, and has been featured on the front cover of fashion magazines many times. In addition to modeling and fronting the band DISACORD, AKIRA has acted on both film and stage, and recently launched her solo vocal career, showcasing an impressive array of talents.

AKIRA discovered her love for music when she was 12 years old. By high school she had begun to develop her taste for men’s fashion. The indie band DISACODE formed in 2007, and has released three albums to date. 2008 saw AKIRA’s debut in KERA Magazine, making it to the cover by the following year.

Over the next few years, AKIRA’s modeling career blossomed, continuing to be featured in fashion magazines and shows in multiple countries. In 2013, AKIRA performed the opening act at Japan Expo in Paris for the “HARAJUKU KAWAii” event. She launched her solo artist career in 2014, releasing her debut single, “Aoki Tsuki Michite,” the ending theme song for “Black Butler: Book of Circus.” AKIRA released her second single in January of this year, “Kirie Toroimen No Shirabe,” a theme song for the Vampire Knight musical (an adaptation of the manga by the same name) in which AKIRA plays the character Kaname Kuran on stage.
